In an interview on “Aquino and Abunda Tonight,” aired yesterday, August 18, “The Voice Kids” finalist Juan Karlos “JK” Labajo shares the he used to be bullied in school for being half-Filipino and half-German.
"Marami din pong nag-bu-bully sa akin, especially po sa school, noon po. Kasi po 'yung parang not accepted by the community," says JK.
In order to avoid conflict, the 13-year-old singer would spend break time under a tree, but they would still approach him and tease him to fight back.
There were even times when he would go home with some bruises and scratches, which he sustained from bullying.
Yet JK thanked his bashes as he took their rude treatment as motivation to strive harder.
"Actually po, to all the bashers and the haters, nagpapasalamat po ako kasi naging motivation ko po kayo na mag-perform better," he says.
Right now, JK is under the custody of his uncle Giovani Labajo because he lost contact with his stepfather and half-siblings after his mother died last November 2013.
Aside from his success in "The Voice Kids," JK will venture into acting as he joins the cast of the primetime series "Hawak Kamay.
