On the July 6 episode of “The Voice Kids,” Coach Bamboo Mañalac shed tears as he picked the top two kids from his group Edray Teodoro and Juan Karlos Labajo. The two will advance to the semi-finals and will face the top two contenders from the teams of Lea Salonga and Sarah Geronimo.
"I really care about these kids,” expresses the teary-eyed Bamboo. “I wish we had more time together.”
Along with Edray and Juan Karlos, the other four kids who made it to the sing-offs round were Teodoro and Labajo bested their teammates Nathan Bautista, Gem Capalad, Borge Rivera and Stacey Pineda.
However, Edray’s flawless rendition of Tulak ng Bibig" and Juan Karlos’ heartfelt rendition of “Stay” led Bamboo to his decision.
"I think this was your breakaway moment,” was Bamboo’s comment on Edray’s performance. “This is the one where you sort of (say), 'okay, coach, ito 'yung kanta ko, ito 'yung gagawin ko, so sit down and watch me.' I was so impressed.”
Meanwhile, Bamboo thought that Juan Karlos’ performance proved that the young aspiring singer is a total performer.
"You have proven from the Battles to this point that you are a total performer. And I am a believer," he professes.
Next week, the top two kids from the Team Sarah will be determined.
