“Mara Clara,” a classic and popular TV series about the two young girls Mara and Clara, whose lives were interchanged due to turns of events and selfish motives, is one of the local phenomena in TV history.
On August 17, 1992, the story written by Emil Cruz Jr. “Mara Clara” first aired on the primetime block of ABS-CBN starring the young super star Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes.
Every viewer glued on their seats every night as they sympathized and shared the struggles of the pure-hearted Mara, played by Juday while her opposite, the envious spoiled brat young girl named Clara, portrayed by Gladys, was deeply hated and cursed during the show’s 5-year run on TV.
On the last episode of the show (February 14, 1997), Mara got what she deserved, she found her real family, her identity, and love while Clara suffered and later on regretted all of her misdoings.
Almost four years ago, a remake of the hit TV series was made with then promising young stars Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes as stars.
The series jumpstarted the two stars' careers and is now considered as two of local showbiz's princesses.
Kathryn just recently starred in the hit TV series “Got To Believe” with her loveteam Daniel Padilla. The two are set to star in the movie adaptation of “She’s Dating The Gangster.”
Meanwhile, Julia is currently starring in the TV series “Ikaw Lamang,” opposite Jake Cuenca, Kim Chiu, and Coco Martin.
