#ThrowbackStar: Remember Jao Mapa?

Jao Mapa may be a late inclusion to the popular Gwapings group of Eric Fructuoso, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Jomar Yllana, but the "fourth gwaping" made sure that he responded to his "true" calling.

More than just being the fourth "gwaping, " Jao Mapa also earned his legion of fans because of his deep dimples, and boy-next-door charm.
 
He started in the business as a model, and caught everybody's attention when he was casted in a softdrinks commercial.

After that, in 1993, Jao joined Jomari Yllana, Mark Anthony Fernandez and Eric Fructuoso as the newest member of “Gwapings” in ABS-CBN’s sitcom “Palibahasa Lalake.”
 
He then starred in his first movie, “Pare Ko” in 1995, where he worked with fellow “Gwapings” members Jomari and Mark Anthony together with Claudine Barretto, Victor Neri, Gio Alvarez, Nikka Valencia and many more.
 
Jao also worked with Cesar Montano and Gelli De Belen in the action film “Asero” on the same year.
 
The actor did not just have a talent in acting, but also in singing and dancing as he appeared in “Hataw Na!” with Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano, Dayanara Torres, Jolina Magdangal, Roselle Nava and Victor Neri, released also on the same year.

He also starred in a controversial movie with Rosanna Roces, "Matrikula."

In 2000, however, he decided to pursue something other than showbiz. He went back to the University of Santo Tomas to earn his degree in Fine Arts major in Advertising.
 
Jao finished the course after seven years and graduated and his thesis was awarded “Thesis of the Year.”
 
Right now, he continues to paint and is a full-fledged husband and father to three kids.
