Award-winning actor Coco Martin, hailed as the King of Drama on Philippine primetime TV, had his fair share of struggles before he reached this point - the top.
In 2009, Coco Martin, who was then using his biological name Rodel Nacianceno, was launched as part of the Star Circle Batch 9. Coco had his first movie stint with the young superstar Judy Ann Santos in the movie “Luv Text” released the same year.
After quite some time, Coco made a name for himself in the indie arena, where he gathered lots of recognitions here in the country and abroad. He was even hailed as the "Prince of Philippine Independent Films."
In 2008, Coco returned to ABS-CBN via afternoon TV series “Ligaw Na Bulaklak,” where he played as Ronel, one of the antagonists in the show. This was also his first TV project with Julia Montes, who then played as young Ara Mina.
In 2010, Coco got his first major role as he starred in the TV remake of classic movie, “Nagsimula sa Puso” alongside Maja Salvador, Jason Abalos, and Nikki Gil.
On the same year, Coco’s success continued as he became one of the main stars of the hit TV series “Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo” alongside Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, and Jake Cuenca.
The next year, 2011, he was reunited with Maja Salvador in the award-winning action series “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,” co-starring Andi Eigenmann and Martin del Rosario.
His most notable TV series to date is his second TV project with Julia Montes - “Walang Hanggan,” which was aired in 2012. He also had a movie with Julia which was shot in Amsterdam—“A Moment In Time,” released last year, 2013.
Last year, he was paired up with Erich Gonzales in the fantaserye “Juan Dela Cruz.”
Today, Coco stars in the drama series “Ikaw Lamang,” alongside Kim Chiu, Julia Montes, and Jake Cuenca.
Other than “Ikaw Lamang,” Coco is busy promoting his upcoming movie with the Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo “Maybe This Time,” which will premier this May 28.
