Vilma Santos, Sharon Cuneta, Maricel Soriano, Ai-Ai de las Alas and Pokwang have given life to some of the most memorable mother roles in local cinema.
 
Through their roles, these stars have served as inspiration to a lot of Filipino mothers.
 
1.       Vilma Santos
 
Hailed as “Star for All Seasons,” Vilma portrayed the role of a mother to Carlo Aquino, Serena Dalrymple, Claudine Barretto, Piolo Pascual, Kim Chiu. And she also had a project with her biological son, Luis Manzano.

Tagged as” Megastar,” Sharon has portrayed different faces of a mother - a stepmother, a distressed mother, a mother to older people, and a real mother. She played these roles to Claudine Barretto, Patrick Garcia, Camille Pratts, among others.

3.       Maricel Soriano
 
Dubbed as “Diamond Star,” Maricel portrayed mother roles in both comedies and dramas. She played mother to Angelica Panganiban, Billy Crawford, Vice Ganda, among others.

4.       Ai-Ai de las Alas
 
Because of Star Cinema’s blockbuster hit series “Tanging Ina,” Ai-Ai became prominently known as “Tanging Ina,” a mother of twelve kids. She also became a mother to Anne Curtis, Toni Gonzaga, Kathryn Bernardo and Xyriel Manabat in her other films.

Comedian Pokwang gave a touching performance in "A Mother's Story," about an OFW who left for the sake of her two kids. Meanwhile, she also played mother to Sandara Park, Erich Gonzales and Jessy Mendiola.
