Pinay makes it to 'The Voice Australia'

Jhoanna Aguila, the 24-year-old Sydney-based Filipino, made it to the blind auditions of The Voice Australia with her soulful rendition of Florence & the Machine song “You’ve Got the Love” last May 6.
Three of the four judges of “The Voice Australia”; Will.I.Am, Joel Madden and Kylie Minogue turned their chairs just before Jhoanna Aguila finished her song.
She proudly said that she is a Filipina when Will.I.Am asked her.
Here’s what the judges have to say about her performance:
Will.i.am said: “My best friend is Filipino. My best friend from my group Black Eyed Peas is Filipino,” Will.i.am said, referring to Apl.de.ap. “You were sent here and I’m supposed to work with you for the Filipino people.”

Kylie Minogue said: “What I would bring is the experience of being the singer on that stage and I wished I had someone who could have held my hand going through the stages of my career but  I didn’t. I figured it all out by myself and I have stuff I’m waiting to give to someone.”
Joel Madden said: “I think you really have a great spot on my team. I have no one on my team like you. You will have a really great chance to shine on my team.”

In the end, the pure-blooded Pinay picks Will.I.Am to be her mentor. “I have to choose Will.I.Am,” Jhoanna said.
“And if you ever want to talk to Apl, you know, he knows the president of your country,” Will.I.Am quipped while escorting Jhoanna down the stage.
