2013 MMFF entries gross almost P1 billion

The recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has become so successful that it has paved the way to open MMFF archives.

2013 MMFF entries gross almost P1 billion

During the appreciation dinner held at the Club Filipino last March 5, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino revealed that the eight film entries at the 39th MMFF earned P999,302,000 at the box office.

MMFF, over the years, has undeniably been a part of every Filipino family that the MMDA thought of having an archive.

"Sa Oktubre o Nobyembre, bubuksan po natin sa compound ng MMDA: one, ang MMFF Film Archives and Library. Lahat po ng pelikula na pinalabas ng 39 years of MMFF nandun," announced Chairman Tolentino. "Two, we will have a 'New Wave' video classroom for film students. Three, we will have a 122-seat theater for the MMFF at no cost to the MMFF. We will construct and finish the building by November this year. Ang pangalan sa sinehan: Metro Cinema."

This is to honor the awardees of the said filmfest and also to preserve and promote Filipino films for the younger generation. The chairman adds, "bukas po ito sa mga mag-aaral ng sining pelikulang Pilipino, bukas po ito sa mga historians at bukas po ito sa inyong lahat."

The films entries last 2013 MMFF were: "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy," "Pagpag," "My Little Bossings", "Kimmy Dora (Ang Kiyemeng Prequel)," "10,000 Hours," "Boy Golden: Shoot-to-Kill," "Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir," and "Kaleidoscope World."
