They also represent the new generation of Filipina celebrity brides, who want their respective weddings to be “simple,” relaxed, and “purely family.”
Iya chose Meditation Point, Kawayan Cove, Nasugbu, Batangas to be her wedding’s venue while Karylle opted to have a church wedding at San Antonio De Padua and reception at Angel Fields in Silang, Cavite. Both celebrations were done just a few hours outside Metro Manila.
Although Iya-Drew’s invitees only totaled to 200, Karylle-Yael’s guestlist of 400 guests is also not that big for a celebrity wedding.
In previous decades, celebrity weddings are held like big feasts where everyone is invited. Remember the Manila Cathedral wedding of Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion? Vilma Santos and Ralph Recto? Those are big weddings of epic proportions.
Though, Sharon learned from that “mistake” that she opted to keep her wedding with Kiko Pangilinan very private. It was done in Sharon’s home in Dasmarinas Village.
Recently, weddings of Judy Ann Santos-Ryan Agoncillo, Regine Velasquez-Ogie Alcasid have been basically “simple.” Both events were held outside Manila.
Well, maybe, these “new” practices proved to be more practical, effective that new brides like Karylle and Iya opted for this type of celebration.
Both Karylle and Iya also tried to keep their relationships on a low-key.
For Karylle, it is very understandable. She underwent a very public relationship and break-up with her previous boyfriend Dingdong Dantes years ago.
Aside from Karylle-Yael, Iya-Drew, several celebrity engagements were also announced - Jericho Rosales-Kim Jones, Yeng Constantino- Victor Asuncion, Bianca Gonzalez-JC Intal, Boots Anson-Roa-King Rodrigo, Miriam Quiambao-Ardy Roberto, and even Aiza Seguerra-Liza Dino.
