In order of their launches as child performers, they are:
1. Camille Prats
She started as out as one of the child stars of “Ang TV,” but what really catapulted her to stardom was when she was launched in the hit movie “Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa.”
The cute Camille endeared herself to the audience with her big, expressive eyes, and fine demeanor, perfect for the role Sara Crewe.
The movie became such a big hit that a “pseudo-sequel” was produced “Ang Pulubi at ang Prinsesa” with Angelica Panganiban, who played Becky in the earlier movie “Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa.”
“Sarah” and “Ang Pulubi At Ang Prinsesa” did not only launch Camille as a child wonder, but also introduced Camille and Angelica’s “rivalry.”
During that time, Camille was a bigger star than Angelica. The former was also casted in industry icons’ movies like “Madrasta” with Sharon Cuneta, “Oki Doki Doc” with Aga Muhlach, “Eskapo” with Richard Gomez and Christopher De Leon, among others.
Now, Camille has transferred to GMA, while Angelica is a respected homegrown lead actress of ABS-CBN.
2. Tom Taus
“Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa” (The Cartoon Series) went on air much later than “Cedie, Ang Munting Prinsipe.” But, the movie of Camille Pratts was first produced into a movie.
With the success of “Sarah,” a movie about “Cedie” was made and it starred Tom Taus, an “Ang TV” member also.
He was never as big as Camille, but he was her male counterpart.
He topbilled a memorable movie billed “Lahar,” a story about the lives of people in the Lahar-stricken areas when Mt. Pinatubo exploded.
Tom Taus migrated to the US at the age of 13. He is currently known in Los Angeles California as DJ Tommy T.
According to his Instagram post (tomtaus), he is currently in the Philippines for the grand opening of Colosseo Roma, an event bar in Angeles, Pampanga.
3. Makisig Morales
He was discovered in the singing search “Little Big Star,” where he was named 1st runner-up.
Because of his incredible voice and “April Boy” moves, he instantly captured the fancy of the show’s fans.
The show became a big hit, and he gathered a large following that immediately, he was tapped to play the lead role in ABS-CBN series “Super Inggo,” which became a phenomenal success.
It, perhaps, was the first primetime series of ABS-CBN, headlined by technically an unknown. He was then paired with Kathryn Bernardo.
Because of his popularity and talent, he was tapped to play roles with Ai Ai Delas Alas, Vhong Navarro, and megastar Sharon Cuneta.
The “May Bukas Pa” phenomenon gave birth to the career of Zaijan Jaranilla. His big, expressive eyes, and small frame made him the perfect kid to play the role of Santino in the series.
He became so effective that he was given a lead role in a bigger series “Noah,” opposite Piolo Pascual.
He also had “Lorenzo’s Time” “Juan Dela Cruz” as part of his TV credits.
In the series “Ikaw Lamang,” which premieres today, he will play the young Samuel (Coco Martin).
He was part of these movies - “RPG Metanoia (as voice talent),” “Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak!,” and “24/7 In Love.”
5. Xyriel Manabat- born (January 27, 2004)
She was a third runner-up in “Star Circle Quest: Search for the next Kiddie Idol (2009),” but her biggest break came when she was tapped to play the young Agua/Bendita in “Agua Bendita.”
Her short stint in the series was so marked that TV executives entrusted to her the landmark project “100 Days To Heaven,” thus making her a true “child wonder.”
She traded acting chops with veteran actress Coney Reyes in the series, which made the public love her more.
She was then casted as lead “Ikaw Ay Pag-Ibig,” and support in “Juan Dela Cruz.” He recently played young Angel Locsin in the pilot week of “The Legal Wife.”
In the movies, she appeared in almost all movies that needs a young girl – “Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na 'To!),” “Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak!,” “Enteng Ng Ina Mo,” “A Mother's Story,” “Amorosa,” “24/7 in Love,”“Sisterakas (2012),” and “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy”
Thus, proving that she is the brightest child star of today.
