#thenandnow: ‘One More Chance’ and ‘Starting Over Again’

When “Starting Over Again” was released last February 12, a lot of people have been comparing it with the 2007 film “One More Chance.”

Viewers have noticed that the protagonists, Basha (Bea Alonzo) and Ginny (Toni Gonzaga) are both architects, who have let go of the one that they love and realized in the end that they shouldn’t have left them [Popoy and Marco].

These two films have also made an impact and caught the attention of the viewers with the heart-breaking lines made by its characters.

And, both films talk about second chances.

But are these enough to prove that “Starting Over Again” is the new "One More Chance?”

Not really.

Basha and Popoy’s (One More Chance) relationship began with being friends to being lovers while Ginny and Marco (Starting Over Again) had a student-teacher relationship before being lovers.

Both films have great directors - Cathy Molina (One More Chance) and Olive Lamasan (Starting Over Again). They both have different points of views on love and storytelling style, as reflected in both movies.

Meanwhile, the director of “One More Chance,” Cathy Garcia-Molina and the director of “Starting Over Again,” Olivia M. Lamasan have different approaches on their respective films and their lead stars.

These two films are special projects that are unique in their own way -familiar yet very different.
