Sam Milby acknowledges the fleeting nature of a showbiz career. Thus, he has started venturing into business – slowly but surely.
The singer-actor is part of two businesses: Prost in Taguig City, a restaurant; and Third District, a coffee shop in Katipunan, Quezon City. Both are mainly owned by his good friend Dominic Hernandez.
In our exclusive interview with Sam at the shooting of his upcoming film “Ex with Benefits,” he revealed that plans are already underway for opening a second branch of Third District.
At present, Sam said he doesn’t consider himself as a full-blown businessman, looking at himself “more as an investor and PR person in terms of promotion.”
That, however, is something that just might change in the future.
“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to get into,” he says. “Though it’s hard for me kasi wala akong experience. My dad actually, he’s a business owner. Naka-dalawang businesses na siya.”
He adds, “I’m very thankful na may mga kasama ako na mas may experience at nag-invite sa akin to be part of the business. Hopefully in the future I can be more hands on and learn more...”
Getting into business is a “very smart” move, Sam believes.
“I really admire a lot of the people who are able to get into businesses…,” he related. “'Yung hindi nagwo-worry na ‘Shoot, wala akong susunod na project,’ ‘di ba? It’s more like, ‘O, eto ang kita ko….’”
Co-starring with Sam in “Ex with Benefits” are Coleen Garcia and Meg Imperial. It’s directed by Gino Santos (“#Y”) and is slated for release next year.
