Delas Alas married Salang in Las Vegas on April 3, 2013, but separated after less than month after she accused him of physical abuse.
In a controversial interview on "The Buzz" aired in May 2013, Delas Alas broke down as she recalled being physically abused by Salang after a disagreement.
She filed a case against Salang for violating Republic Act 9262 or the act defining violence against women and children. She also sought a protection order against Salang.
Last January, the comedienne confirmed that a Las Vegas court has finally issued a divorce decree ending her marriage to Salang.
Speaking on “Mornings@ANC” on Tuesday, Delas Alas said she is actually thankful for what transpired between her and Salang because it made her realize that she deserves someone better.
“Wala [akong gustong baguhin]. I just want to be thankful to the Lord na napakaganda ng buhay na ibinigay niya sa akin and ng chance para maging masaya ulit sa love life ko,” she said.
If her relationship with Salang did not end, Delas Alas said she would not have met her current boyfriend, Gerald Sibayan.
“Sabi ko nga, siguro binigay 'yun ni Lord sa akin, 'yung incident na 'yun, para makilala ko at maramdaman ko na masaya pala ang buhay kay Gerald. Kaya magpasalamat na rin tayo sa ex ko na 'yun,” she said.
Sibayan is a former badminton player from De La Salle University.
“Masaya talaga ako ngayon. Napakabait ng darling ko. Thank you Lord talaga, kapag naiisip ako, thank you Lord,” she said.
