Christian Bautista will welcome the New Year in London, planning to watch ex-girlfriend Rachelle Ann Go in “Miss Saigon” as well as their pal Mark Bautista in “Here Lies Love.”
“Nakakatuwa kasi I’ve been reading so many good things about them,” he enthuses during the press conference of his latest album “Soundtrack” today, Nov. 20. “I think I’ve worked hard this year, so parang regalo ko na rin ‘to sa sarili ko. I’m excited to see both of them.”
Rachelle Ann plays bar girl Gigi in “Miss Saigon,” while Mark portrays late president Ferdinand Marcos in the London run of “Here Lies Love.”
“Naalala ko nga ‘yung Champions days namin, kami nina Sarah (Geronimo), Mark, Rachelle, and ako and how far everyone has come,” the former Kapamilya star adds about his days performing as part of the “ASAP” champions. “I’m very happy and very proud of them.”
Already an Asian Sensation himself, Christian says he would love to break into Broadway or West End as well. He himself has done theater locally, such as “Ghost: The Musical,” “Cinderella,” “Rama at Sita,” and “West Side Story.”
For now, though, Christian offers his fans a new record called “Soundtrack” under Universal Records, featuring covers of movie theme songs.
He has a duet with Rachelle Ann in “The Way We Were,” Karylle in “After All,” and “Come What May” with Nikki Gil.
The Asia’s Romantic Balladeer also put his tender touch in Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” from the “Twilight” soundtrack.
