MANILA - "Bagito," ABS-CBN's new primetime series about a teenager forced into responsibility after fathering a child, debuted to strong nationwide ratings on Monday, according to Kantar Media.
The Nash Aguas-starrer on its first day registered a national TV rating of 27.2% -- more than double the viewership of its competing program on GMA-7, "Coffee Prince," which only got 11.3%.
Its audience share ranked "Bagito" as the fourth most watched TV program nationwide on November 17, trailing fellow Primetime Bida offerings "Forevemore" (29.3%), "Hawak Kamay" (28.9%), and "TV Patrol" (28.25). "Two Wives" ranked fifth with 21.2%.
Based on the hit Wattpad series by Noreen Capili, "Bagito" centers on high school student Drew (Aguas) as he grapples with the reality of having a child of his own, just as he is transitioning to adulthood.
Directed by Onat Diaz and Jojo Saguin, "Bagito" also stars Alexa Ilacad as Drew's love interest, Ella Cruz as the mother of his child, and veteran actors Agot Isidro, Ariel Rivera and Angel Aquino.
"Bagito," a production of Dreamscape Entertainment Television ("Juan dela Cruz," "Dyesebel"), airs weeknights before "TV Patrol" during ABS-CBN's primetime block.
