Star Cinema reaps awards at Golden Screen Awards

Last night, October 4, the Entertainment Press Society recognized the masterpieces of the Filipino film industry from last year as well as the geniuses behind them at their annual Golden Screen Awards.
 
The intimate awards ceremony held at Teatrino, Greenhills was hosted by the vibrant comic John “Sweet” Lapus who kept the audience entertained all throughout the evening with no-holds-barred jokes and flamboyant risqué outfits.
 
Star Cinema garnered one of the night’s major awards, winning Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for “It Takes a Man and a Woman.”
 
Kapamilya stars also reaped a chunk of the event’s grand awards.
 
Among the big winners of the night were Vilma Santos, Joel Torre, Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz who took home the titles for Best Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role – Drama, Best Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role – Drama, Best Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role – Musical or Comedy, and Best Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role – Musical or Comedy respectively.

Best Original Screenplay: Giancarlo Abrahan, Hannah Espia (“Transit”)
Best Original Story: Erik Matti (“On the Job”)
Best Cinematography:  Lyle Sacris, Ber Cruz (“Transit”)
Best Editing: Benjamin Gonzales Tolentino, Hannah Espia (“Transit”)
Best Production Design: Tessa Tang (“Transit”)
Best Sound Design: Albert Michael Idioma (“Ano Ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap?”)
Best Musical Score: Mon Espia (“Transit”)
Best Original Song: “Di Ako Titigil” from the movie “Burgos,” music by Lucien Letaba, arranged by Melvin Corpin and interpreted by Sharon Flordeliz
Best Visual/Special Effects: David Yu, Miguel Javier (“On the Job”)
Special Award – Gawad Lino Brocka Lifetime Achievement Awardee: Susan Roces
