“I want to prove something for myself. Not against them.”
These were the words of Liza Soberano when asked if she is competing with Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Barretto who already headlined in an ABS-CBN TV series.
“Ang pressure kasi para sa akin is against myself. I don’t see it as a competition,” explains Liza during her interview on “Aquino and Abunda Tonight” aired yesterday, October 24. Kundi, I want to prove something for myself. Not against them.”
As she is set to portray a lead role via “Forevermore,” the 16-year old young actress says she grabbed this opportunity to improve her acting, so she could get away from the stereotype of being just another pretty face.
At I want to be known for my talent not for my face.”
She attributes her unwavering drive to Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina who helms her first leading teleserye.
“Sobrang chill niya. Gina-guide po talaga niya kami sa lahat. As in tutok na tutok. ‘Yung pagsasalita, ‘yung gestures talagang binabantayan niya…She wants every little detail to be correct,” says Liza.
But more than having a good director, she also notes
“Opo, [crush namin ang isa’t isa]. In a way it helps kasi mas nakakausap ko na siya ngayon,” she admits.
“Forevermore” produced by Star Creatives premieres this Monday, October 27 after “Hawak Kamay.”
“It’s a story that can give you hope that first love can last and second chances can happen,” says Liza.
