In spite of a few network shifts, Marvin Agustin’s true home was ABS-CBN.
He started playing support roles in a number of Kapamilya shows, until he and Jolina Magdangal got paired in “Gimik.”
Such pairing gave rise to the Prince and Princess of Hearts. Marvin-Jolina was the go-to pair for ultimate fun and “kilig,” which we’ve seen in the movies “Gimik: The Reunion,” “Labs Kita… Okey Ka Lang?,” “Kung Ayaw Mo Huwag Mo,” and “Flames: The Movie” (“Tameme” episode).
On TV, they starred together in the rom-com series “Labs Ko Si Babe.”
However, their love team couldn’t last as long as the fans would’ve wanted. Marvin went on with other projects, such as “Whattamen,” his sitcom with Dominic Ochoa and the late Rico Yan, and “Ang Tanging Ina,” a star-studded family comedy film led by Ai Ai delas Alas.
Though Marvin made the big shift and transferred to a rival network in 2004, he nevertheless took on projects with Star Cinema, namely “’Wag Kang Lilingon” and “Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To).”
The big changes in Marvin’s life weren’t limited to showbiz. The actor delved into entrepreneurship, attending the International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management and eventually, co-owning restaurants and putting up his concert production company. Indeed, he’s a proof that a person can excel in more than one field.
It’s been a while since we saw Marvin’s dramatic prowess on a Kapamilya program – the last was “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas” with Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa.
Now, the wait is over, as the returning Kapamilya actor has started taping for the series “Flordeliza,” directed by Wenn Deramas, no less.
