The tandem of Karylle and Kuya Kim Atienza did more than “Magpasikat” today, Oct. 20, in their fun and interestingly educational performance for “It’s Showtime’s” fifth anniversary.
Karylle and Kuya Kim incorporated do-it-yourself, earth-friendly science experiments in their production number, such as producing wind through biking and creating glow lights in simple steps.
According to Karylle, her two costumes were made of recycled materials. Kuya Kim, meanwhile, dressed like a mad scientist.
Karylle performed a medley a songs, namely Bryan Adams' “Heaven,” Nicki Minaj, Jessie J, and Ariana Grande's “Bang Bang,” Demi Lovato’s “Neon Lights,” Aegis’ “Basang-Basa sa Ulan.”
The biggest surprise in the number was Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao’s appearance, performing Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.”
As a take-away to the audience and televiewers, a phone and tablet app was also launched. The app, available for download for free, includes the experiments used in the production.
Adding to the excitement, and perhaps, pressure, on the part of the host-performers for the fifth "Magpasikat" week are the big-time set of “hurados:” Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, Apo Hiking Society member Jim Paredes, and premiere actress Cherie Gil.
Karylle has been a “Magpasikat” champion twice: First in 2012 with Anne Curtis and last year with Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz.
