#THROWBACKSTAR: Eliza Pineda is Maria Flordeluna no more

She is the angelic face that once ruled primetime TV. Eliza Pineda, a graduate of the long-running kiddie gag show “Goin’ Bulilit,” is more famously known for being Maria Flordeluna.

In the 2007 primetime series, Eliza revived the titular character originally portrayed by Janice de Belen. “Maria Flordeluna” was an inspiring drama about a girl with a heart so pure who strived to unite her family no matter what.

A year later, Eliza returned to primetime with “Kung Fu Kids,” as one the seven children whose mission is to stop the forces of evil. She co-starred with Jairus Aquino, Paul Salas, Jane Oineza, Kristopher Dangculos, Joshua Dionisio, and Andre Garcia.

Apart from being cast in “Angelito” (Books 1 and 2), Eliza also did  more than 10 episodes of “Maalala Mo Kaya,” the most recent of which was “Panyo” where she co-starred with Sue Ramirez and Sam Concepcion in a story about two friends whose bond got strained because of a boy.

In the movies, the actress, now 19 years old, was handpicked by director Paul Soriano to play Maja Salvador’s sister in his acclaimed film “Thelma.” She was also seen in Star Cinema’s “I Do,” “D’ Lucky Ones,” and “Till There Was You

In real life, she is the younger sister of actress Charee Pineda.
