13 years ago before entering College, the only dream I had was to be part of the entertainment industry, whether as a writer, production or creative person, or an apprentice to something.
It was also at this time that I had my first my heartbreak – my parents forced me to take Business Administration for College. They thought venturing into Journalism or Mass Communication would mean a life of discomfort for me. I had no choice, but to oblige.
Now, I am, as other people might say, successful. I have decent, high-paying job in one of the big banks in the country. I am thankful.
Who would have thought that I would still be given the chance to fulfill my dreams to be part of the industry I once turned my back to?
Thank you Star Cinema for allowing me to write again about my first love – showbiz. This is the best Christmas gift I could ever have.
For every showbiz actor or actress, being a part of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival is a dream come true. Well, for one, MMFF is undeniably the biggest 10 days for local cinema. The festival has elevated Vic Sotto, Bong Revilla, Kris Aquino, Ai-Ai Delas Alas to Iconic Status because of their impressive track records in the MMFF.
It is also the time when these participating stars get to be most personal with the audience. The annual Parade of Stars provides this opportunity for stars to interact with more people.
MMFF also guarantees that ALMOST all participating movies will make money. It is certainly the most exciting time for the local mainstream cinema.
This year, the tandem of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla and their fans will show teen power with the entry “Pagpag,” a horror movie. This project is unlike the TV shows and movies they have done in the past, so this brings legitimate excitement to moviegoers.
Plus, the movie was recently rated B by the Cinema Evaluation Board dor its artistic and technical merits. “Pagpag” is directed by Frasco Mortiz.
Will the young team of Kathryn and Daniel break records in the MMFF?
Last year, Vice Ganda’s movie with Kris Aquino and Ai-Ai Delas Alas “Sisterakas” broke MMFF records and went on to become the Topgrossing Filipino Film of All Time.
With his latest starrer “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” Vice’s plea to the public is to watch the movie because of the hardwork he has put into the movie.
For Vice, how do you, after all, top your record last year?
It is apparent that Vice decided to pull all stops for the movie to succeed, agreeing to portray four different characters in one movie. These four characters interact in scenes, mind you.
The Vice-Direk Wenn tandem is, once again, expected to lead the race for the MMFF. Will they?
With star power, respected directors, impressive track record, these Star Cinema films promise to be the movies to watch this MMFF.
Suportahan po natin ang pelikulang Pilipino.
